Dressage Clinic with Courtney King Dye 2018 – Aubrey, TX

October 27, 2018 @ 8:00 am - October 28, 2018 @ 5:00 pm

Join us for a not to be missed clinic to ride or audit with Dressage Olympian Courtney King-Dye. Very limited riding slots available, plenty of auditing space available! Bio is below:

Courtney King Dye is a USDF Certified Dressage Instructor and USDF Gold Medalist based out of Millbrook, New York in the summer and Wellington, Florida in the winter. As a competitor she represented the United States in the 2007 World Cup in Las Vegas, the 2008 World Cup in The Netherlands, and the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Courtney is a graduate of Columbia University in New York and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in literature.

A native of Michigan, Courtney has been riding since she was 9 years old. At 17, she became a working student for 2 time Olympian, Lendon Gray. Courtney’s dressage education includes 6 years as Assistant Trainer to Lendon Gray, several prolonged training trips with Conrad Schumacher and Klaus Balkenhol in Germany, and countless clinics with a multitude of trainers such as Henk van Bergen and Debbie McDonald. She has also spent extended periods training with Steffen Peters in California before major competitions. Courtney has a strong belief in continuing her dressage education.

Courtney’s show record includes a long history of championships and honors, including many USDF Regional Championships from Training Level to Grand Prix, National Championships, Horse of the Year Awards, Year-End Championships, and the Chronicle of the Horse’s Dressage Equestrian of the Year Award. Courtney is known for her ability to show horses of all different types at nearly every level at the same show and come away with the lion’s share of blue ribbons.

On March 3, 2010, a horse Courtney was riding tripped and fell. Courtney was not wearing a helmet and suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury. She spent 4 weeks in a coma and 3 months in in-patient rehabilitation re-learning how to walk and talk. She was the catalyst and is an avid supporter of riders4helmets.

Courtney is still very committed to adding to the growth of the sport of dressage. She writes many articles for magazines including doing a monthly column for Dressage Today. She has a mentorship program on Barnby Notes, which offers journaling. She regularly donates her services in Lendon Gray’s Youth Dressage Festival, and recently joined with Robert Dover and Lendon to create The Emerging Dressage Athletes Program.

Courtney continues to fulfill her competitive drive in para dressage, enjoying becoming the best she can be in her current condition. Luckily her cognition was completely spared, so even though her body can’t do it, her mind can share all of the knowledge she possesses. She is a demanding but compassionate teacher, and enjoys her new role as trainer to take the place of rider. The goal continues to train the horses to be the best they can be.
