EquQuest Kids Summer Horsemanship Camp July 23-25, 2018

Please join us for EquQuest’s next Riding & Horsemanship Camp for Kids, July 23-25, 2018.

Suitable for kids 3-18, and featuring our very gentle and well-trained Kiger Mustangs, this camp focuses on learning all around horsemanship, not just riding. Kids learn to help catch, groom and tack up the horses (depending on age, experience and confidence level), and also how to handle a horse at liberty or online in our covered round pen in addition to riding. During the three half-day sessions they’ll get to participate in some fun exercises designed to teach the kids how to “talk” to the horse, direct it where they want it to go, and experience what the world feels like from a horse’s back.

Very young children can attend and participate, as the class is designed to help build their confidence, get them comfortable with the height and motion of the horse and expose them to new, fun experiences.

Older children will learn ‘horse psychology’ – meaning why horses do what they do and how to use this to build a relationship and communicate with a non-verbal animal using body language and motion. We work with just 1-2 students at a time in the round pen, and each horse/child pair has an instsructor with them. In this manner, we can work at each child’s level of interest, experience and confidence.

Cost is $150 for the three days. Session each day start at 8:30 and end at 11:30 AM.
